Attorney Tom DeWoskin Announces His Well-Earned Retirement

For more than four decades, A. Thomas DeWoskin has helped businesses and individuals find their footing through financial storms. Now, after 24 years with Danna McKitrick, P.C., Tom is entering the next phase of his life and beginning a well-earned retirement.

Celebrating a long, successful career

Tom joined the firm on July 1, 2001, after serving as a shareholder at Greensfelder, Hemker & Gale since 1986. At Danna McKitrick, he led our bankruptcy and creditors’ rights practice, serving as a trusted advisor to clients, and a steady mentor to his fellow attorneys. He also spent more than 35 years on the panel of bankruptcy trustees for the Eastern District of Missouri. Tom earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Pennsylvania in 1976, and his Bachelor of Arts in economics with high honors from the University of Michigan in 1973.

Tom’s work reflected both mastery of his field and genuine care for the people it served. His trademark approach to cases included an equal mix of steadiness and empathy, helping his clients and colleagues alike navigate moments of uncertainty. Those who worked with him know well his calm presence, clear judgment, and quiet humor, qualities that earned him deep respect and lasting friendships throughout his career.

“It’s been a privilege to work alongside Tom for so many years,” said Mike McKitrick, principal attorney with Danna McKitrick. “He’s earned the respect of everyone who worked with him, not just for his legal skill, but for his kindness and humor. I know we all wish him the best as he begins this next chapter.”

“Tom made our firm better, every single day,” added Ron Danna, principal attorney with Danna McKitrick. “He’s been a mentor and a friend to so many. We’ll definitely miss him, but we’re grateful for the years we’ve had working alongside him.”

Tom has been recognized on Missouri Lawyers Media’s POWER List for Bankruptcy Law, including the Top 100 POWER List in 2022. He also holds the AV Preeminent Peer Review rating from Martindale-Hubbell, a distinction based on peer evaluations for legal ability and ethical standards.

Those of us at Danna McKitrick who know Tom best are confident this “retirement” is simply the chance to shift his considerable talents and energy in pursuit of his other passions, including travel, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. As he steps into retirement, we want to wish him a heartfelt congratulations on an incredible career, and thank him for his years of service, leadership, and the example he set for our team.
